I am a qualified, Relate trained, relationship counsellor who provides both relationship counselling and individual counselling. I have a particular interest in couples work but have extensive experience of working with both individuals and couples.
I tailor sessions to fit my clients’ specific issues and work in a non-judgemental, confidential and impartial manner at all times. I endeavour to always put my clients at ease and to quickly build up positive therapeutic relationships with them from the outset.
I draw on numerous approaches, and bring a variety of models to the relationship counselling sessions. I integrate a number of theories into my work (including psychodynamic, systemic, narrative) and prefer to work in a flexible and non-directive way, allowing clients the opportunity to explore their difficulties openly and constructively. Some of the issues I have helped clients to work through include marital discord, affairs, communication difficulties, separation, divorce, parenting issues etc.
I am also a mediator, working through Arch Resolution in Harrogate. I’ve been involved in a variety of diverse family and neighbour cases. In addition, I see clients via the BUPA Employee Assistance scheme. I am an Associate Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and work within their ethical framework and practice guidelines.
I work from a private practice in Harrogate and also for ARCH Resolution.
